Bear Hunting
The Elk Valley has a high percentage of colour phase black bears. We primarily target these bears in the spring as they forage on the first green up in the avalanche slide paths, meadows and road sides. Two bears can be taken per hunter. This is a beautiful time of the year to experience the mountains, and observe wildlife returning to the high country as winter comes to an end.
(The grizzly bear hunt has been closed by the provincial government due to anti-hunting pressure)
When Can You Hunt
Bear hunting is done as spring arrives in the mountains in late May and early June.
